Circular economy
Circ@Home – Resilience by circularity and sharing culture at households as a precondition for climate-neutral cities
The Circ@Home project aims to collaborate with municipalities and other stakeholders in the Baltic Sea Region to develop circular solutions that support the circular economy framework of the municipalities in the region and promote more sustainable consumption by residents.
The project focuses on smart consumption, reuse, repair and the sharing economy, creating the so-called urban circular economy triangle: city-home-services.
Most towns and countries recognize the key role of the circular economy in achieving their climate and development goals. However, there is a lack of municipality-driven circularity solutions in urban contexts involving households and neighbourhoods.
Project objectives:
- To develop a neighbourhood-based circular economy hub model that supports circular economy activities at the grassroots level and provides municipalities with tools to steer the circular economy from the bottom-up.
- To create a circular economy household model that supports households in their circular economy efforts. Focus areas are food (and its packaging) and other household products (clothing, footwear, household appliances and furnishings).
- Develop a service model supporting circular households, which includes local circular business solutions.
- Conduct initial model testing in pilot neighbourhoods “Circular City: City–Home–Services”, scale it to the city level and adapt it to different contexts.
